A leader in DC, Maryland, and Virginia web design, Blue Water Media continues to make its mark at the American Graphic Design Awards.

Washington, DC – (October, 2010) – Top DC web design firm, Blue Water Media, took home a W3 Silver Award for work done in the Charitable Organizations/Non-Profit category.  The W3 Awards honor outstanding new work that illustrated the ‘power of web creativity.’ Entries are judged based on a standard of excellence as determined by the International Academy of Visual Arts.

The W3 Awards recognized Blue Water Media specifically for its work on Center for Interfaith Action on Global Poverty, www.CIFA.org.  CIFA’s new website allows for easy dissemination of information regarding CIFA related news, events, issues and initiatives.  The new website aesthetically clean and dynamic interface also provides easy navigational tools for users who want to donate to, or volunteer with, CIFA.

After 30 years of poverty and corruption, Egyptians have successfully ousted President Mubarak. The revolt has spurred neighboring countries to follow. Yemen, Iran, Iraq, Bahrain and several more governments are experiencing backlash from displeased citizens. Numerous protestors have lost their lives fighting for their beliefs, yet the revolts continue.

Many are wondering how these protests have been so successfully executed? Facebook, Twitter, and other social media networks have played a huge role in motivating, organizing, and sharing digital files worldwide. In Egypt, a Google Marketing Executive named Wael Ghonim used Twitter and Facebook to communicate with thousands of Egyptians to take a stand against Mubarak. After the protest proved successful, Egyptian authorities arrested Ghonim only to release him weeks later after pressure began to build concerning the reasons behind his arrest.
