Companies Will Collaborate to Promote National Flood Insurance Program.

Washington, D.C. (April 12, 2011) – Blue Water Media, an information technology, website design, and online marketing firm is part of team that won a 5-year, $75 million contract to promote FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency contract was officially awarded to LeapFrog Solutions Team FloodSmart JV, LLC, which is comprised of LeapFrog Solutions, Blue Water Media, Spurrier Media Group, Bender Consulting Services Inc., Ogilvy Washington and JWT. Team FloodSmart will work to maximize FloodSmart’s web and media presence, helping American homeowners, renters and businesses receive the natural disaster relief coverage they need and deserve.

The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) was founded in 1968 to provide property owners with financial protection against flood damage associated with hurricanes, tropical storms, heavy rains, and other conditions. The importance of this program has been emphasized in recent weeks by the devastation caused by the tsunami in Japan. Since FloodSmart began 7 years ago, the number of policyholders within the NFIP has risen by more than 26 percent to over 5.5 million

Blue Water Media is seeking to add to our design team. Interested candidates should have a great eye for web design, excellent communication skills, attention to detail and a positive attitude. This is a mid to senior level position and we require a minimum of 3 years experience in the web design field and a 4 year degree to be considered.

Other deciding factors include:

- Expert knowledge of web design principles and best practices
- Expert level knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
- Ability to participate and/or lead design reviews and critiques
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and PHP
- Understanding design for Joomla and/or Drupal CMS is a plus

Washington, DC – (October, 2010) – Top DC web design firm, Blue Water Media, took home a W3 Silver Award for work done in the Charitable Organizations/Non-Profit category.  The W3 Awards honor outstanding new work that illustrated the ‘power of web creativity.’ Entries are judged based on a standard of excellence as determined by the International Academy of Visual Arts.

After 30 years of poverty and corruption, Egyptians have successfully ousted President Mubarak. The revolt has spurred neighboring countries to follow. Yemen, Iran, Iraq, Bahrain and several more governments are experiencing backlash from displeased citizens. Numerous protestors have lost their lives fighting for their beliefs, yet the revolts continue.

Many are wondering how these protests have been so successfully executed? Facebook, Twitter, and other social media networks have played a huge role in motivating, organizing, and sharing digital files worldwide. In Egypt, a Google Marketing Executive named Wael Ghonim used Twitter and Facebook to communicate with thousands of Egyptians to take a stand against Mubarak. After the protest proved successful, Egyptian authorities arrested Ghonim only to release him weeks later after pressure began to build concerning the reasons behind his arrest.
