Blue Water Media Inducted Into Prestigious Military Spouse Employment Partnership

Joining 170 Corporate Partners, Blue Water Media Pledges to Help Military Spouses Find Meaningful Careers.

DC area web design and development firm, Blue Water Media, was inducted into the prestigious Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) last week, which aims to reduce the current 26% unemployment rate in military spouses by providing portable and flexible career opportunities. Having designed the award-winning Military Spouse Employment Portal website, https://msepjobs.militaryonesource.mil/, Blue Water Media is honored to continue to support MSEP’s mission as an official employment partner.

The three-day MSEP Partner Meeting consisted of presentations, focus groups, and networking geared toward strengthening and promoting the partnership, which has resulted in 815,000 jobs posted and over 30,000 military spouses hired since its inception. The three-day partner meeting also included an official induction ceremony at the US Navy Yard in Washington D.C. led by Charles E. Milam, acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy. During the ceremony, new inductees were reminded of the “core tenets” they'd agreed to abide by in the partnership, including:

  • Increasing job opportunities while maintaining employment status for spouses who relocate to new duty stations;
  • Providing career promotion opportunities for those who help their employer meet its goals and objectives;
  • Supporting spouses' pay equity on par with their training, work experience and credentials; and
  • Telling their corporate counterparts about their support and commitment to military spouses.

“It is an honor to support this important mission to advance the careers of military spouses and enhance the quality of life of military families,” said former military spouse and Blue Water Media Chief Operating Officer, Jennifer Louden. “We have already benefited from the rich experience, adaptability, and workforce skills of military spouse hires and look forward to the partnerships’ continued success.”

About the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP)

MSEP is part of DoD’s broader Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) initiative, which seeks to strengthen the education and career opportunities of military spouses by providing career exploration opportunities to help them understand their skills, interests, and goals; education and training to help them identify academic, licensing, or credentialing requirements that can help them reach their career goals; employment readiness assistance to optimize their self-marketing skills; and employment connections that help them find and maintain a rewarding career. MSEP, a targeted recruitment and employment solution, creates employment connections that provide companies with direct access to military spouses seeking career opportunities and spouses with direct access to employers who are actively recruiting.
