Situation:

Dr. Cohen, a successful plastic surgeon in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia, created a new brand of skin care products designed to correct problem areas using state of the art medical developments. He and his team were looking for a company to design a website focused primarily on educating people on proper skincare regimens. After the website was designed, the team at pH Advantage decided to go one step further from purely informational to more sales oriented. The goal was to educate the visitor on the appropriate products while encouraging the sale.

Objective:

pH Advantage's main goal was to sell products on their website. However in addition, they also wanted to feature their new skin care line (on the home page), add current news, give client testimonials and tell visitors where to find available retail locations. They wanted to showcase their specialized lotions in a way that people could immediately find the product for their skin malady and purchase a solution. They wanted to update their image and increase their marketing efforts to target a broader national audience. Bottom line: sell products.

Blue Water Media took the static website and added flash imagery to create a more engaging home page which highlighted product specials. Blue Water created a pH Advantage shopping cart that allowed people to purchase the skin care line directly and securely over the internet. Interior web pages, once solely informational, were supplied with multiple links directing viewers to buy online via the shopping cart. Colors were programmed in to coordinate with the design and color scheme of the skin care line. Blue Water created a News / Press section (that highlighted Press Releases, online reviews, advertisements and more). They also placed client testimonials throughout the website and created a testimonials page where you could read product reviews. Finally, a "store locations" page was added that gave physical addresses and phone numbers of all national retail locations. The marketing department's goal was to increase product sales by improving the website, and expanding the reach of their advertising campaigns to include a national audience.

Impact Results:

With the redesign of the site, creation of the new shopping cart and additional pages, the site was complete – yielding both form and function. The redesign team had structured the sales oriented website with just the right amount of information and marketing influence to increase inquiries tenfold. The landing page was engaging and convinced people to stay and explore the site. Easy-to-use drop down menus, color coordinated with the products, created a calm and pleasant online shopping experience. Information was made highly accessible to interested viewers and purchasing links paved the way to the shopping cart. competition. Customer retention, repeat visitors, and total sales have all increased. This increase is most prevalent in the Pay-Per-Click campaigns where the rate of conversion decreased by almost $70 per online inquiry. The website is now easy to maneuver, and with such fluid search functions and customer friendly services it encourages and will continue to encourage return visitors and increased sales results.
